Description for Wadi Al-Hussein Mosque
Wadil Hussein Mosque, also known as "The 300-Year-Old Mosque," is the oldest mosque in Thailand, located in Yi-ngo District, Narathiwat Province. It was built in 1624 CE by Tuan Guru Wadil Hussein Al-Fattani. This mosque stands out for its unique and distinctive architecture, as no nails were used in its construction; instead, it relies entirely on ancient woodworking joinery techniques. The structure is predominantly made from Takian and Lumpor wood, durable hardwoods resistant to weather conditions. This mosque bears witness to the long history of Islam in the region and has served as a significant center for religious learning for centuries. The 300-Year-Old Mosque is not only a place of worship but also an exceptionally valuable historical and cultural attraction.
